Our Ministries
1990. A small town in northwest Romania became the home of a big dream. Dr. Peter Lucaciu and his wife, Ana, responded to God’s call and founded the Romanian Evangelistic Medical Mission (REMM) soon after the fall of communism. In those early days, medical healing served as an evangelistic bridge to spiritual healing through the Good News found in Jesus Christ.

Today. REMM has grown to serve an ever larger circle of those in need of God’s love. Read on to see what God is doing through the ministries of REMM—and be a part of it!
AGAPE MINISTRY
provides opportunities for fellowship, prayer, discipleship, and encouragement to the poorest families in the region. We deliver the love of Christ along with pantry staples and used clothing.
evangelism
REMM creates evangelistic opportunities for short-term mission teams and also supports native evangelists throughout Romania. REMM has been able to help plant Gypsy churches; share the gospel with prisoners; visit the terminally ill in State hospitals, leper sanitariums, and State nursing homes; and hold a variety of evangelistic events.
We have also developed relationships with high-standing government officials in order to be a Christian witness in the public square. REMM remains ardent in the call to share the good news of Jesus Christ at every opportunity.
MEDICAL MINISTRY
because of increased access to healthcare, is now very much a bridge-building ministry to the medical community. We connect peer-to-peer, need to resource, and develop partnerships of mutual support between American and Romanian physicains and dentists.
ABANDONED CHILDREN
Casa Josef, our private, Christian orphanage, is named after the Biblical hero, Joseph. Like Joseph, who was abandoned and sold by his brothers, our children were abandoned by their parents. Casa Josef (Casa Iosif, in Romanian) is currently home to six teenage girls.

In addition, REMM seeks to be a voice for and support the cause of abandoned children in Romania.
THE BRIDGE
Our coffee shop was founded to be a source of funding for Casa Josef and also serve as a meeting place for churches, Christian youth, and visiting mission teams.

The Bridge has become a beacon of hope and encouragement to other Christian businesses and entrepreneurs in Romania.

Ministry
In all of our work, REMM remains committed to the vision that our overarching responsibility is preaching the gospel and expanding the kingdom of God.

AGAPE Runs
We go on Agape "Runs" when delivering boxes of pantry staples and fresh produce, gently-used clothing, school supplies and toys to poor families.

It's not just a drop-off, however. We spend time with the family, learning about their lives and how we can help and pray for them. It is a great time of fellowship, of literally stepping inside someone's home and being part of their life, if for the moment.

We often are separated by socioeconomic status and Agape Runs bridge our worlds together.
Agape House
While going on Agape Runs, some of the homes of the poor families we visited were so dilapidated that we wondered how anyone could live there. So a new project called Agape House came to life this past summer: building low-cost homes for the extremely poor.

The cost to build an Agape House—two bedrooms, a living area, a kitchen, a small garden, and an outhouse—is $7,000. We rely on donations of second-hand windows, doors and roofing-tiles to stay within our budget.

We are looking forward to building more of these Agape Houses for families who are in need.

MEDICAL/DentaLMINISTRY
REMM's very first ministry was providing free healthcare to Romanians right after the fall of communism. That was during a time when even basic medicine like aspirin was hard to come by.

Today, Romania has made progress in advancing its medical care, however some communities, particularly the Roma, do not have access to quality healthcare.

When we host medical or dental teams, we go out to the neediest communities to offer free medical and dental care.
casa josef
For over 25 years, REMM has been dedicated to providing hope and home to children in need. We have successfully placed more than 100 children in loving adoptive families who can provide the stable environment every child deserves.

Our Casa Josef building has opened its doors to serve many over the years—from welcoming Ukrainian refugee families escaping war, to creating an after-school program for Roma girls, and recently through our partnership with the Pyramid Learning Center helping children who are on the spectrum.

We are proud of the impact our organization has made and look forward to many more years of serving vulnerable children and families in our community.

THE BRIDGE
During all our years of ministry in Beius, we couldn't find a safe, family-friendly place to have a good coffee and dessert and just commune with others. So we started our own coffee shop in 2004.

It's also a source of funding for our ministries and also serve as a meeting place for churches, Christian youth, and visiting mission teams.

The Bridge has become a beacon of hope and encouragement to other Christian businesses and entrepreneurs in Romania.

The Walnut Tree Project
We believe that God has provided an opportunity for REMM to put to use 10 hectares of land (about 24 acres) we already owned in order to (literally) grow our future funding! Those 10 hectares are now fully planted with 1,000 walnut trees! We expect the reap our first harvest in about 4 more years. Join us in the journey!

The Walnut Tree Project has become more than a source of future funding, it has become an outreach ministry providing jobs to Roma teens and young adults when able. The need is great in the community and REMM is there working to make a difference.
Preaching
In all of our work, REMM remains committed to the vision that our overarching responsibility is preaching the gospel and expanding the kingdom of God.

Green house ministry
The gift of a greenhouse to a struggling family has grown (no pun intended) into a farming enterprise! The family now employs others and shares the harvest with REMM. The produce they share allows us to serve fresh, healthy meals to teams and provided for Agape families.
